Account Deletion Overview

We understand that you may want to delete your Finsly account. This page provides comprehensive information about the account deletion process, what data will be removed, and what information may be retained in accordance with legal requirements.

How to Delete Your Account

Method 1: In-App Deletion

  1. Open the Finsly mobile app
  2. Go to Settings or Profile
  3. Select "Account Settings"
  4. Tap "Delete Account"
  5. Follow the confirmation prompts
  6. Verify your identity when prompted
  7. Confirm your decision to permanently delete your account

Method 2: Email Request

If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion via email:

  1. Send an email to support@finsly.app
  2. Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  3. Include your registered email address
  4. Include your full name as registered
  5. Provide a reason for deletion (optional but helpful)
  6. We will verify your identity and process the request

Before You Delete Your Account

Important Actions to Take First:

  • Cancel any active subscriptions or premium features
  • Complete or cancel any pending transactions
  • Download any data you want to keep (transaction history, messages)
  • Update payment methods for any recurring charges
  • Resolve any outstanding disputes or issues
  • Transfer ownership of any active listings to another account

What Data Will Be Deleted

Upon account deletion, the following information will be permanently removed:

  • Your profile information (name, bio, profile picture)
  • Account credentials (email, password)
  • Personal preferences and settings
  • Saved items and favorites
  • Private messages and communications
  • Reviews and ratings you've given
  • Shipping addresses and contact information
  • Payment methods (processed through Stripe)
  • Location data and device information

What Data May Be Retained

Some information may be retained for legal, security, or business purposes:

  • Transaction Records: Financial transaction data for tax and regulatory compliance (up to 7 years)
  • Legal Compliance: Data required for ongoing legal proceedings or investigations
  • Security Logs: Anonymized security and fraud prevention data
  • Analytics Data: Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics
  • Public Content: Reviews or comments that became part of public marketplace records
  • Customer Support Records: Support interactions for quality assurance purposes

Note: Retained data will be anonymized where possible and deleted once legal retention requirements are met.

Deletion Timeframe

  • Immediate: Account deactivation and app access removal
  • Within 24 hours: Profile and personal data removal from active systems
  • Within 7 days: Complete removal from our primary databases
  • Within 30 days: Removal from backup systems and caches
  • Within 90 days: Complete deletion from all systems (except legally required data)

Third-Party Data

Some of your data may be stored with third-party services. We will request deletion from these services, but their deletion timelines may vary:

  • Payment Processor (Stripe): Financial data subject to their retention policies
  • Cloud Storage: Profile images and documents removed within 30 days
  • Analytics Services: Aggregated data may remain anonymized
  • Email Service: Marketing lists updated immediately

Account Recovery

Important Warning:

Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once your account is deleted, you cannot recover your data, transaction history, reviews, or any other account information. You will need to create a new account if you wish to use Finsly again.

Alternative Options

Before deleting your account, consider these alternatives:

  • Account Deactivation: Temporarily disable your account without losing data
  • Privacy Settings: Adjust what information is visible to other users
  • Notification Settings: Reduce or eliminate email and push notifications
  • Data Download: Export your data while keeping your account active

Fees and Charges

Account deletion is completely free. However, please note:

  • Active subscriptions will continue until canceled separately
  • Outstanding transaction fees or penalties may still apply
  • Refunds are processed according to our standard refund policy
  • No pro-rated refunds for account deletion timing

Regional Compliance

Our account deletion process complies with international privacy regulations:

  • GDPR (EU): Right to erasure under Article 17
  • CCPA (California): Right to deletion under Section 1798.105
  • LGPD (Brazil): Right to deletion under Article 18
  • PIPEDA (Canada): Right to withdrawal of consent

Data Export Before Deletion

Before deleting your account, you can request a copy of your data:

  2. Go to Settings > Privacy & Data
  3. Select "Download My Data"
  4. Choose which data to include
  5. We'll email you a download link within 72 hours
  6. Data export is available for 30 days after request
